Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas Wreath

A brass and mokume-gane wreath made for an episode of Channel 4's Kirstie's Handmade Christmas.

I was invited to take part in the wreath making competition in an episode of Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, which aired on Channel 4 in December 2020. I was competing against 3 other makers of different disciplines to make a Christmas wreath in 4 hours, and the judge selected my wreath as winner!

The leaves were made of thin sheet brass and fragments of copper/nickel silver mokume-gane which I cut and bent into shape, inspired by the golden wreath headdresses of Ancient Greece. The leaves were soldered onto a ring of brass wire before using a blowtorch to gently colour and age the metal.
